Mayumi Uchida (内田 まゆみ Uchida Mayumi), nickname Mayu (まゆちゃん Mayu-chan), is one of the characters of Hai-Furi. She is the Harekaze's starboard navigation controller.
Appearance[]
Mayumi wears the school uniform but with a longer skirt, around knee level. She has a tan skin tone than most crew members, which was a result of getting sunburned at one point. She has purple eyes and maintains a braid, tied by a blue-green bow, on her left side.
Personality[]
As the eyes of the Harekaze on its starboard, Mayumi knows how to remain calm, even in a pitched battle.
Etymology[]
- The name Mayumi has many depending on the different languages:
- In Japanese, it means "real, genuine" (真) (ma) and "archery bow" (弓) (yumi).
- Part of the name Yumi can also mean "reason, cause" (由) or "friend" (友) (yu) and "beautiful" (美) (mi).
- In Filipino/Tagalog, it means "tender, soft, modest", which owes to her calm personality.
- In Japanese, it means "real, genuine" (真) (ma) and "archery bow" (弓) (yumi).
- Mayumi's surname Uchida means "inside, within" (内) (uchi) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).
